Coronavirus Update: Tax - Time To Pay Arrangement

HMRC have launched a Coronavirus helpline as well as stepping up their Business Support Helpline to help businesses with cashflow.

If the impact of COVID-19 has affected your cashflow and you are struggling to make your upcoming tax payments, you may be able to defer these for a period, or spread the tax payments over a period of time. This does need to be arranged with HMRC by calling their helpline on 0800 0159 559. Even though HMRC have put additional resources on this line we are aware that the lines are still very busy and you may have a short wait. This helpline with cover;

  • Corporation tax

  • Self-Assessment income tax

  • VAT (unless deferred automatically)

  • PAYE

If you receive any suspicious calls or emails from what is implied to be from HMRC, you should ignore these and call your accountant or even call HMRC direct to check if genuine. There are many scams going around, so be mindful of giving your details to a suspicious caller. You can read more about this in our blog, How to Deal With Fake HMRC Emails and Calls.
